Apples to Apples

Two hockey games we care about tonight: Red Wings @ Penguins and Hurricanes @ Maple Leafs.  Going to be tough for both of our favorite teams tonight due to injuries.  Malkin & J Staal are game time decisions, while Crosby is out with a concussion.  Caniacs are waiting at the edge of their seats to find out what exactly is wrong with Jeff Skinner. Tonight will be an interesting night for hockey.

Apples

An apple is another name for an assist (the point accredited to a player for passing/deflecting/shooting the puck to the guy that actually got it in the back of the net). The term 'apples' is almost always used in the plural.

I'm sure most of the people who read this blog know what an assist is, but I couldn't resist adding this beautiful assist from Crosby to Letang. I could watch Sid turn circles like that for hours...
