About Us

You already know we're huge hockey fans, but here's a little bit of personal info on us:

Nicole

Nicole may be from the south, but you wouldn’t know it from her love of hockey and all things Pittsburgh. Hockey has been part of her life since her little brother started playing when she was 11.  She regularly attends his youth hockey games (even acting as scorekeeper for some) and attended local ECHL games before the team folded in 2004.  For years, she has traveled at least once a season to see her beloved Penguins play the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh.  Now that she’s in college, the dedication (or better fitting, obsession) towards the sport has grown and led to the creation of this website with Laura.

Nicole will forever be a true Penguins fan at heart, but she will admit to cheering for the Hurricanes (mainly because of Jeff Skinner & the proximity of the team).  Her favorite hockey past time (besides going to the games) is making posters to show off at pre-game warm-ups! Her claim to fame is appearing in the Pittsburgh Penguin’s Sports Illustrated issue after their Stanley Cup win in 2009 with her ‘Lord Stanley get the Brandy Ready’ poster.

Laura

Laura discovered hockey when she was 12 years old after attending a Greensboro Generals (ECHL) game with her dad.   She fell in love with the game- the speed, the skill, and even the fights- at that moment and became a dedicated hockey fan.  She spent the following two years attending nearly every game & was devastated when the team folded. In the absence of games and booster club activities, Laura channeled her hockey love by attending other local minor league games.  She also appeared as a crowd extra in the hockey movie ‘National Lampoon’s Pucked, but she has never actually seen it to see if she made it into the final film.

Though she didn’t follow a specific NHL team at the time, Laura was overjoyed when the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup in 2006 (which meant she finally got to see the cup in person!).  It wasn't until college that she gained a strong addiction to the NHL and eventually got the idea to start this blog with Nicole. She closely follows both the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Hurricanes, but tries to stay on top of most of the league happenings. Her ultimate hockey dreams include getting a chance to talk to Sidney Crosby in person, fishing with Matt Duchene, or partying with Paul Bissonette.
